DAYTONA ARROW SPORT GTX SHORT SHAFT BOOTS REVIEWED – SIMPLY INCOMPARABLE

A while back I told you to throw all your motorcycle boots away and buy a pair of Daytona AC DRY GTX. That was in 2019. I still have those boots and they’re still perfectly beaut.

But a few people got all bent out of shape because the boots had laces. Their monkey brains told them that when they send it down the road, the laces will get caught in the bike and their legs will be torn off.

And while I allow this is possible in the same way a plane crashing onto your house is possible, it is quite unlikely. Still, I have learned not to argue with the monkey-brain. It’s gonna shriek and honk no matter what.

 

So I got another pair of Daytona boots. Without laces. These one come with two zippers, so they are super-easy to take on and off, and you can keep your massive beer-gut. How good’s that? Boots you don’t have to diet to put on. And no laces to upset the monkey brain.

What can I tell you? Yes, Daytona boots are objectively the best motorcycle boots you will ever wear. If you buy waterproof ones (and these are), they are truly waterproof. Hand on my heart. I have been rain-lashed for six hours and every bit of gear I had on ultimately let the water through. But not my Daytona boots.

Daytona boots are handmade in Germany. And that is what you’re paying for. They are insanely comfortable, right from Day One, and they stay that way. They are made from full-grain water-repelling and greased cow-hide. The zippers look to be made by aliens and will outlast the earth. Yes, of course GORE-TEX is the key element in the boots – so breathable and water-resistant to the point of being practically waterproof.

All Daytona boots have a plastic-reinforced inner sole and a hot-dip galvanised steel inlay or shank. That means a lot. If you ride standing up, you can do it all day without the arch of your foot screaming. If you don’t do adventure stuff, then know this steel shank means the boot will never break in half or become malformed with age.

They truly are an amazing piece of kit. Ask anyone who has a pair if you don’t believe me.

And they last and last and last. I could not believe their longevity. I am hard on gear and I do a lot of miles. And I do a lot of walking in the gear I ride in. The boots I wear HAVE to be comfortable. Yes, they also have to look after my feet if the worst happens, and I have nothing but supreme confidence they will. Just quietly, a few MotoGP racers wear Daytona carbon-fibre inner boots. They then put their sponsor boots over the top. No-one says anything because what are you gonna say to a MotoGP racer about the gear he chooses?

I have never owned a better pair of motorcycle boots, and I never will. You know why? No-one makes a better pair.
