HELD SAMBIA 2 GLOVES REVIEW – “I’m feeling very tactical…”

I think this is maybe my fourth pair of Sambia gloves, now in their second iteration, hence Sambia 2. Ray gave me this sand-coloured set, and I told him I didn’t want them.

“I don’t need any more gloves. The ones you gave me are still fine.”

“These are the new Sambia 2s.”

I love new stuff, so he had me there. And they were sand-coloured. Like ready-to-storm-Baghdad sand-coloured. They come in other colours, but these sand-hued bastards hugely appealed to me. They made feel very…well, tactical.

The normal and outstanding Held-quality was evident on the first insertion. It always is. I am used to it because I pretty much only wear Held gear. But if you’re new to the brand and you put its gloves on for the first time, they will feel a bit different. You’re experiencing a top-quality glove, pilgrim. The world’s best, in my view.

Held, if you didn’t know, made its bones making gloves decades ago. This year, it celebrates its 80th birthday. And yes, the same family still owns and runs it in Germany.

The Sambia 2s were my constant companion throughout the spring and summer and into autumn. If you bumped into me on the road, I was wearing these. They come with a kangaroo palm, are colour-fast and sweat-proof, and thanks to what else they’re made from – Spandex and cow-leather – they fit amazingly well. They have an easy Velcro fastener on the wrist, so easy on and easy off. But they won’t come off in a crash unless your whole hand falls off.

There are air-vents on the fingers, and the fingers themselves are perforated – the perfect hot to mild weather glove. The edge of the hand is reinforced with SUPERFABRIC® (which you can learn about HERE SuperFabric® Types) and there are hard plastic knuckle-guards.

Nothing complex. Just a great, honest glove with bulk integrity, If it was a person, it would make a great mate.

And here’s the best bit. Held gear is not that shit bargain-basement stuff you see from time to time. Its bike gear is among the best you can get, so you might be thinking: “The bastard is now gonna tell us these gloves are $300”.

Nope. These Sambia 2 gloves are a mere $160. Absolute bargain for what you’re getting. I love the shit out of them.

HOW MUCH? $575
